Get rid of Norton. Use AVG!

Norton AntiVirus can rob your system of necessary resources. Norton is a very cumbersome program. Although Symantec has good intentions, Norton can slow your system to a crawl. A typical Norton installation includes more than ten processes that run continuously in the background. Included is the firewall program which replaces the easily configurable and adequate functionality of the Windows firewall.

We recommend using a Free Anti-Virus program provided by Grisoft known as AVG. We have been recommending this software for years, and with it's daily virus definition updates and system scans it will help keep your computer virus free. It is well designed both cosmetically and logically. The menus are easy to follow and the amount of memory required is far less than Norton. But by far the it's strongest aspect is the cost--FREE. When your subscription to Norton or any other paid anti virus program runs out, you must purchase a new license or you will no longer be able to download virus definition updates, leaving your computer unprotected from the new virus that are unleashed on the internet daily.
